KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The hype for women's sports has been building in the metro for the past few years, and now there's a place being built for this budding fan base.
"The Dub KC" is a first-of-its-kind bar for the KC metro, specializing in celebrating women's sports.
"Aesthetically wise, to be honest, we're going to be a little bit lighter and brighter than a typical sports bar if you want to think of it that way," owner and co-founder Monica Brady said.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A sports bar in downtown Kansas City, Missouri, plans to open in January with a focus on female athletes and women's sports.
The Dub, short for "get that win," will be in the former Banksia's near East 9th and Main streets.
The bar will be a short walk to a streetcar stop and a short drive to CPKC stadium, the home of the KC Current women's soccer team.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The fever pitch in Kansas City surrounding sports speaks for itself—especially at local bars where almost every game is seen, heard, and celebrated.
But the silence does not go unnoticed.
“The amount of times we have gone to a bar to watch a women’s game and had to ask, ‘Hey, can you put it on?’ Let alone we are not going to hear it at all,” Rachel Glenn said.
She and her wife, Monica Brady, are hoping to change the game in Kansas City by creating a space that sounds, feels, and looks like it is made for them.

If all goes according to plan, Kansas City will soon have its very own women’s sports bar. Omaha transplants Monica Brady and Rachel Glenn, who are married, recently took over the lease at 107 W. Ninth St. They plan to open The Dub, which they are calling “Kansas City’s first sports bar dedicated to prioritizing women’s sports,” by the end of the year.
